I ended up being thrown in the hands of language technology in my first venture, Neurastream (2017-2020, RIP). We made use of clever NLP and a first breed of language models to find suitable candidates for job openings. We scraped public datasets of professionals (linkedin, github, stackoverflow, meetup, curriculo lattes..) and indexed those profiles to recommend high-adherence candidates to headhunting firms and large enterprses.
